Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually, based upon the number of qualified applicants and the amount of funds available. Last year, two awards were offered.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must reside in Oregon, OR Clark County, WA.
  3. Must be gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender (GLBT).
  4. Must be taking classes in the arts or humanities.
  5. Must be an adult student who is 30 years of age or older.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This undergraduate and graduate award is for adult students who are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender (GLBT). The student must be seeking to make a significant change in his/her life by taking classes in the arts and/or humanities. The student must also reside in Oregon, OR Clark County, WA.

Application requirements for the Larry McDonald Scholarship are:

  • Application form
  • Recommendation letters (2)
  • Official Transcript
  • Personal statement (opt.)
  • Interview (may be required)
Additional Information: A scholarship committee composed of individuals with expertise in a relevant field and a concern for advancing educational opportunities will be responsible for reviewing applications. Scholarship recipients will be chosen on the basis of the application and supporting materials (and personal interview, if deemed necessary). Students must be in demonstrated need of financial assistance to attain an educational goal, and must evidence the potential to successfully complete their selected program of study. Employees or board members of Equity Foundation, or immediate relatives of the scholarship fund founders or the scholarship review committee, are not eligible to apply.

Award Amount: The amount of the award varies annually, based upon available funds. Last year, the average award was $500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $500.
