Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually. This year, two scholarships will be awarded.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must attend an accredited Southern California institution.
  3. Must pursue an academic discipline leading to a career in international trade, business, law or a related international field. Acceptable majors include business administration with an international emphasis, economics or political science ( i.e., pursuing a law degree, with an international emphasis).
  4. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  5. Must be a full-time student.
  6. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident.
  7. Must be enrolled as a college sophomore, junior or senior to apply for this undergraduate award.

Description: This award is available for U.S. college sophomores, juniors and seniors who are pursuing an academic discipline leading to a career in international trade, business, law or a related international field. Students must attend an accredited Southern California institution and have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Additional Information: The Marjorie M. Shostak fund was established to encourage women and men to pursue an education in an international field. Close consideration will be given to students who can demonstrate leadership qualities as defined by a record of involvement and participation in extracurricular activities on their college campuses and/or in civic activities in their local communities. The winner will be chosen by the WIT-LA Scholarship Committee. The award will be made directly to the recipient, who will be expected to apply the funds toward educational related expenses. Scholarships will be awarded in December at the WIT-LA annual holiday event.

Award Amount: $1,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,500.

Application forms and further information can be obtained online by contacting the Women in International Trade-Los Angeles (WIT-LA) using the information found at the website. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit a personal essay as specified on the application, two letters of recommendation, and a copy of the his/her unofficial transcripts. The application and all supporting materials must be submitted to the address provided, postmarked by the deadline date.
