Awards will be distributed as follows: one William and Dorothy Yeck Purchase Award of $10,000; one second-place award of $1,500; and one third-place award of $1,000. All awards are made on an annual basis and are non-renewable.

Applicants do not have to attend Miami University (MU) in Ohio to enter the contest. Entrants should have achieved a significant degree of success as an emerging artist of noteworthy talent. The winner will become part of the Miami University Best Young Painters of the Twenty-First Century Collection. Images of the finalists' works will be retained by MU. All finalists will assume the cost of shipment of the artwork to MU. The university will assume the cost of return shipping the finalists' paintings. Work will be fully insured while on the premises of MU and while being returned to the artist. The $10,000 scholarship winner may be invited to visit MU and will also have a one-person exhibition to coincide with the competition. Participation in the exhibition entry process constitutes an understanding and acceptance of the conditions set forth herein, including the right of MU to use submitted images for publicity and educational purposes.
