Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. and international students.
  2. Must be accepted to or currently enrolled in a graduate program at the time of application.
  3. Must plan to pursue a career in government.
  4. Must be a resident of Dutchess County, New York.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.

Additional Information: Established by the Dyson Foundation in honor of its? friend and board member Michael P. Murphy and supported by his family friends and colleagues the Michael P. Murphy Public Service Scholarship awards an annual scholarship to a resident of Dutchess County who is currently enrolled in or planning to matriculate at an accredited graduate school with the intent to pursue a career in government.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available online from the Community Foundation of Hudson Valley website at the address provided. In addition to the completed application, each applicant must submit two letters of recommendation (one academic and one personal); a copy of his/her most recent transcript; a copy of the student's Student Aid Report (SAR) and Expected Family Contribution (EFC) information; and an essay of approximately 500 words responding to the prompt listed on the application. The Student Aid Report (SAR) is obtained by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. Applications must be completed online by the deadline date.
