$5,000 annually, renewable for three additional years providing the student maintains full-time enrollment with a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
The number of awards offered each year may vary according to the number of eligible students.
The Tennessee General Assembly established the Minority Teaching Fellows Program in 1989 to attract talented minority Tennesseans to enter the teaching field. Awards are very competitive and based on funding. Renewal applicants are given first priority. Recipients must submit a signed 'Statement of Intent' to teach one year for each year the scholarship was awarded in a Tennessee public kindergarten, elementary or secondary school and, after graduation, annual statements of employment to TSAC. If recipients do not meet this obligation the award must be repaid to TSAC.
Applications are available at high school guidance offices, financial aid offices, and online from the Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation (TSAC) College Pays website. In addition to a completed ... sign up for full scholarship deadline information.
