Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards varies annually. An average of six awards are offered each year.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a full-time student.
  4. Must maintain a grade point average of 'C' or better.
  5. Must be enrolled in a floriculture/environmental horticulture or business program at a two- or four-year college university in the U.S..
  6. Must be a current undergraduate student to apply for this award.

Description: This award is for U.S. undergraduate students who are currently enrolled in a floriculture/environmental horticulture or business program and have a grade point average of 'C' or higher are eligible to apply for this award.

Application requirements for the Mosmiller Intern Scholarship Program are:

Additional Information: Internships are for 10- to 16-week periods. Spring or fall internships are preferred for the most meaningful industry experience. Summer internships are allowed when the location can provide valuable experience. The employer pays interns during training, and upon successful completion of the program, the intern receives a cash grant. Training may be conducted in floral retail, wholesale and allied trade companies located in the United States and away from home/school and must begin within 12 months of the application date. Transportation costs to and from location are the student's responsibility ($500 of the internship award is available in advance for travel and relocation). Students must agree to and fulfill the responsibilities assigned by the employer for the internship time period and submit a 500-word report evaluating the experience within 30 days of completing the program. Students must also secure permission to interrupt studies for the length of the training period when required by the university.

Award Amount: $2,000 annually, non-renewable. The recipient will receive the scholarship upon completion of the internship.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

Applications are available online from the American Floral Endowment (AFE). In addition to the completed application, the student must submit a one- to two-page personal statement explaining reasons for applying; official transcripts; letter of recommendation and endorsement by the faculty member; and a photograph of himself/herself (for publicity purposes only). The photograph must be emailed to the address provided. Applications must be submitted to the student's floricultural faculty member who will then submit the application to the AFE at the address provided by one of the two deadlines. Application deadlines are: March 1 (fall & winter training) and Oct. 1 (spring & summer training).
