Number of Awards & Eligibility: Eight awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be a resident of Massachusetts.
  4. Must attend a university or college in Massachusetts.
  5. Must demonstrate academic excellence.
  6. Must intend to pursue a career in accounting at a public accounting firm in Massachusetts.
  7. Must be enrolled full time.
  8. Must have completed, at a minimum, the first semester of his/her junior year at time of application.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: Massachusetts residents enrolled full-time in a state college or university are eligible for this award. Students must have completed the first semester of their junior year, demonstrate superior academic standing and financial need, and intend to pursue a career as a certified public accountant.

Application requirements for the MSCPA Firm Scholarship are:

  • FAFSA or other financial documents
  • Recommendation letter
  • Official Transcript
Additional Information: The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage individuals who have demonstrated academic excellence and financial need to pursue a career in public accounting in Massachusetts. Scholarship recipients will be notified by April 30. Awards will be presented at the MSCPA's Annual Recognition Reception on May 14 at Park Plaza Hotel in Boston.

Award Amount: $2,500 annually, non-renewable. Scholarship funds can be used at the discretion of the individual, e.g., for tuition, books, interviewing expenses, etc.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.

Applications are available online on the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants, Inc. (MSCPA) website. Only one application is needed to apply for all MSCPA scholarships. In addition to the completed application, the applicant must submit the following: an official transcript; one letter of recommendation from an accounting professor; an essay of 200 words or less describing his/her career goals and why he/she feels he/she will be a successful CPA; and a copy of his/her FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or other type of college loan application form, or his/her latest tax return. Please note: The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. Completed application packets must be submitted online and must be received by the deadline date.
