Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must attend a Florida college or university.
  2. Must be a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association.
  3. Must be a resident of Florida.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  5. Must enroll full time at an accredited college or university.
  6. Must have completed at least one full year of occupational therapy coursework.
  7. Must pursue a career in occupational therapy.
  8. This award is for U.S. students.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: The Myra McDaniel Endowed Scholarship is available for U.S. college sophomores and/or graduate students who are residents of Florida and who are currently attending a college/university in Florida. Students must be members of the American Occupational Therapy Association and be pursing a career in occupational therapy.

Application requirements for the Myra McDaniel Endowed Scholarship are:

  • Essay

  • Recommendation form (3)
Additional Information: Applicants must demonstrate a need for financial assistance and have a sustained record of outstanding scholastic achievement. Students are considered for all scholarships for which they qualify, but may receive only one scholarship per year. Post-baccalaureate graduate degrees require a dissertation, thesis, special project, or research component. Winners will be notified by April.

Award Amount: Approximately $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available on the American Occupational Therapy Foundation (AOTF) website. The applicant must complete and submit the application online on the AOTF website. In addition to the completed application, the applicant must submit an essay on the topic listed on the application. Please note: The applicant's program director and two of the applicant's personal references must complete certain online forms. The 'Program Director's Statement' must be completed by the head of the occupational therapy department at the applicant's school. The applicant will also be asked to provide the name and email address of two separate personal references. The AOTF will send these two references an email from 'AOTF Scholarship System' ([email protected]) with instructions on how to submit their confidential testimonials online. One reference should be completed by a current faculty member or faculty advisor, and the other by someone of the applicant's choice from the following categories: former teacher, school official, employer, or other person who knows the applicant well enough to assess his/her character, work experience, academic ability, and his/her ability to successfully complete the proposed educational program. The completed application must be submitted by midnight PT on the deadline date. Personal references and program director statements will also be collected online and must be received by Nov. 14.
