Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must have been one of the top 25 All-American contestants or a member of the first- or second-place team at one of the three most recent National Intercollegiate Dairy Judging Contests.
  4. Must pursue advanced study related to the dairy industry (production agriculture, manufacturing, marketing, agricultural law, business, veterinary medicine, and environmental science).
  5. Must be a current college junior or senior.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This graduate award is available to current college juniors or seniors who are one of the Top 25 All-American contestants or members of the first- and second-place teams at one of the three most recent National Intercollegiate Dairy Judging contests. Students must pursue advanced study related to the dairy industry.

Additional Information: In 1950, National Dairy Shrine established this scholarship in honor of H.H. Kildee, to be awarded for graduate study to a student who excelled in dairy cattle judging. Scholarships are awarded based on rank in the national contests, academic standing, leadership ability, student activities, interest and experience with dairy cattle, and future plans. The winner will be recognized at the National Dairy Shrine Awards Banquet.

Award Amount: $3,000 annually, non-renewable. Previous scholarship winners may not reapply; previous applicants who did not win a scholarship may reapply if still qualified.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,000.

Applications are available on the National Dairy Shrine (NDS) website. Each student should download the application and type in his/her responses. The file should then be saved as KG.Last Name.First Name.doc and emailed to the address provided. The applicant must also submit two letters of recommendation from the department chair or faculty members who are familiar with his/her activities and academic achievements and an official transcript showing all college courses and grades. The letters must be emailed to the address provided, and the transcript must be mailed to the address provided. (Only one transcript is required for all scholarships for which the student wishes to apply, although separate applications must be submitted.) Applications must be submitted by midnight CST on the deadline date.
