Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must major in dairy or animal science.
  4. Must be enrolled at a two-year agricultural college.
  5. Must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

Description: U.S. students who are currently enrolled at a two-year agricultural college majoring in dairy or animal science are eligible to apply for this award. Students must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

Application requirements for the NDS / Iager Dairy Scholarship are:

  • Essay
  • Recommendation letters (2)
  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
Additional Information: This scholarship is sponsored from a fund donated by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Iager, well-known Maryland Holstein breeders. Scholarships will be based on academic standing, leadership ability, interest in the dairy industry, and future plans for those students completing their first academic year. Winners will be honored at the National Dairy Shrine Awards Banquet.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable. Previous scholarship winners may not reapply; previous applicants who did not win a scholarship may reapply if still qualified.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available on the National Dairy Shrine (NDS) website. Each student should download the application and type in his/her responses. The file should then be saved as Iager.Last Name.First Name.doc and emailed to the address provided. The applicant must also submit two letters of recommendation, at least one of which should be from a faculty member who is familiar with his/her activities and academic achievements, and an official transcript showing all college courses and grades. The letters must be emailed to the address provided, and the transcript must be mailed to the address provided. (Only one transcript is required for all scholarships for which the student wishes to apply, although separate applications must be submitted.) Applications must be submitted by midnight CST on the deadline date.
