Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be majoring in nursing.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  3. Must be 18 years of age or older.
  4. This award is for U.S. students.
  5. Must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. students who are majoring in nursing at an accredited college or university in the U.S. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

Additional Information: The Nursing.org Nurse's First Scholarship recognizes an outstanding student enrolled at any level of nursing education. The recipient must demonstrate dedication to nursing's evolving role in the healthcare system, the drive to make nursing a lifelong career, and a commitment to outstanding patient care. Selection will be based on academic achievement and the quality of responses provided in the essay and short answer responses.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

The application deadline date has not yet been finalized for this year, but is expected to remain the same as last year. The deadline date shown here is tentative based on last year's date. Please check back in April for a refreshed application deadline date. Applications and information about this award are available online at Nursing.org. To be considered for an award, students must complete an online application form that includes personal information, responses to short answer questions, as well as links to an essay and a recent resume. Essays must be between 500 and 1,000 words in length and must address the topic prompt listed on the application form. All completed applications and supporting documents must be submitted online no later than the deadline date.
