Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be pursuing a bachelors degree or higher to apply for this undergraduate and/or graduate award.
  4. Must major in accounting, finance, budgeting, or a related field.
  5. Must have been employed in a government position for two or more years.
  6. Must be a member of the Ohio GFOA.
  7. Must be enrolled in an Ohio college or university.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: Ohio GFOA members who have been employed in a government position for two or more years and are working toward a bachelors degree or higher in accounting, finance, budgeting, or related field at an Ohio college or university are eligible for this award.

Application requirements for the Ohio GFOA Member Continuing Education Scholarship are:

  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Personal statement
  • Reimbursement policy/supervisor statement
Additional Information: Current Ohio GFOA board and scholarship committee members are ineligible. Receipt of completed applications will be confirmed by email. If confirmation is not received, call Nancy at 614-228-4716.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available online from the Ohio Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) website. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit a statement of future plans in the public sector; copy of jurisdiction's tuition reimbursement policy or statement of supervisor if there is none; sealed letter of recommendation from the applicant's supervisor; and may include other sealed letter of recommendations. Applications must be submitted by the deadline date.
