Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be enrolled full time or have been accepted into a full-time program.
  3. Must have an interest in marine instrumentation.
  4. Must be an undergraduate or graduate student to apply for this award.
  5. Must be a member of the Marine Technology Society.

Additional Information: The Marine Technology Society (MTS) is dedicated to supporting marine education and students. To that end, the society offers annual scholarships for MTS (and some for non-MTS) students enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in a marine-related field. All applicants must be MTS members and enrolled in a full-time academic program.

Award Amount: $2,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

Applications are available online on the Marine Technology Society (MTS) website. As part of the completed application, the student must write an essay of 500 words or less that discusses his/her interest in marine technology, how his/her interest in marine technology relates to his/her current field of study, and how he/she plans to use his/her degree. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following: a written recommendation from a current teacher or counselor in a marine-related field (for high school seniors, the recommendation may be from any current teacher or counselor, although one in a science field is preferred); a written letter of reference from someone he/she knows who is not a teacher or counselor; and an official sealed transcript (may be sent separately by the school). High school seniors must also submit proof that they have been accepted to a two- or four-year academic program (such as an acceptance letter from the program). One application may be used to apply for all MTS scholarships, except for the ROV Scholarship. The completed application form may be either completed online or emailed to the address provided. All additional materials must be submitted by email with the exception of official transcripts, which may be submitted by postal mail.
