Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of scholarships awarded varies from year to year.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be of Hispanic descent.
  3. Must be accepted to or enrolled in a graduate level program.
  4. Must major in library science.

Description: This scholarship is available for Hispanic students who are studying library science at the graduate level.

Application requirements for the REFORMA Scholarship Program are:

  • Official Transcript
  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Current resume
Additional Information: Applicants must show evidence of commitment to a career in librarianship and the potential for high academic standing. Applicants should demonstrate an understanding of and desire to serve the Spanish- speaking community. The recipients must display character and leadership, which are essential for success both as a student and as a professional.

Award Amount: Up to $1,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,500.

Applications and information are available from the National Association to Promote Library and Information Services to Latinos and the Spanish-Speaking (REFORMA) website at the address provided. In addition to the completed application form, students must submit the following items: Official transcripts of all educational institutions attended; a current resume; and two letters of recommendation from professors, employers, librarians or other professionals who are not related to the applicant. All applications and supporting documents must be postmarked by the deadline date.
