Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of recipients for this program varies according to the number of college students meeting the eligibility requirements in any given year.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must plan on attending a college/university in the state of Illinois.
  4. Must be pursuing an education in the field of business.
  5. Must be a legal resident of the state of Illinois.
  6. Must be a college graduate or older to apply for this graduate scholarship.

Additional Information: The Illinois Real Estate Educational Foundation (ILREEF) is a not-for-profit organization established to aid and promote real estate education throughout Illinois. In recognition of years of distinguished service, the Real Estate Educational Foundation has established the Richard D. Wiegers Scholarship Fund. The Richard D. Wiegers Scholarship for Graduate Students was created to make it possible for Illinois residents to pursue a graduate education in the field of business.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable. This scholarship may be used for expenses including tuition, room and board, texts and other materials.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available online on the Illinois Real Estate Educational Foundation (ILREEF) website. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit official transcripts of all of his/her collegiate or high school records (certified by the registrar or some other responsible official) of the courses that he/she has taken; the student's proposed program of study, including a brief description of the career path he/she plans to pursue in working toward a degree; two letters of recommendation from individuals listed on the application; and a typed, signed statement of the student's general activities and intellectual interests, employment (if any), contemplated line of study, and career he/she expects to follow. This statement should not exceed 1,000 words in length and should be written in as simple and direct a manner as possible. The application and all supporting materials must be submitted online by the deadline date.
