Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must attend Washington State University.
  3. Must pursue academic training in sociology or social work.
  4. Must be a female.
  5. Must be returning to college to complete her training.
  6. Must be a college sophomore or junior at time of application.

Description: This award is available for undergraduate women studying sociology at Washington State University. Applicants must be returning to school after a period of absence and demonstrate financial need.

Application requirements for the Roberta Cline Frasier Anderson Scholarship are:

  • Financial verification
Additional Information: Financial need is a major consideration. Students must demonstrate particular promise for an active career in sociology or social work and a desire to make a difference in the lives of others. The awards committee will review all applications and select the winning applicant. The winner will be notified by the department chair and a notice of recognition will be posted in the department's display window outside the department office in Wilson Hall. The award winner will be recognized at the department's annual spring banquet.

Award Amount: Up to $1,000 annually toward tuition, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available on the Washington State University (WSU) Department of Sociology website. In addition to the completed application, the applicant must submit the following: a current Degree Audit Report or WSU transcript; the names, email addresses, and professional relationships of three references able to comment on the applicant's academic and community-related work; an estimate of her financial expenses; and an essay of 500 words or less on her career goals and how these goals will make a difference in in the lives of individuals, communities, and/or society. All applications must be typed. If the applicant does not have access to a computer/typewriter, she may contact the department for access. Completed applications may be mailed or submitted as an email attachment, using the information provided. Applications are accepted annually and are due no later than the first Monday of March each year to the department.
