Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO)

Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually. Please note: There will be one scholarship given to undergraduate/graduate applicants and current high school seniors.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  4. Must be enrolled in a transportation-related discipline.
  5. Must be an undergraduate student with 60 or more semester credit hours or a master's degree candidate with 15 or more semester credits.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: U.S. undergraduate students with 60 or more semester credit hours or master's degree candidates with 15 or more semester credits are eligible for this award. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and be enrolled in a transportation-related discipline.

Additional Information: Winners will be notified by May 15, 2019. Selections will be made by a team of industry professionals and representatives from the academic community. Winners will be announced at the COMTO National Meeting and Training Conference Scholarship Luncheon in Detroit, MI. Scholarship recipients may be asked to attend the National Scholarship Luncheon to be held at the annual conference in Detroit on July 11-14.

Award Amount: $4,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,500.

Applications are available online from the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) website. Please note: Students may submit one application to apply for all scholarships for which they are eligible. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following materials: a cover letter of 500 words or less which introduces him/her and states his/her transportation-related career goals and life aspirations; two letters of recommendation, one from a guidance counselor or advisor and one from a member of the academic community; his/her most recent transcripts; a current resume; and a 3x5 headshot photograph. Applications must be submitted by the deadline date.
