Number of Awards & Eligibility: One scholarship award will be provided annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must have completed at least one year of law school with plans to continue.
  2. Must attend an accredited law school in the state of California.

Description: The Roy A. Gustafson Memorial Scholarship Fund is available for students in California who have completed their first year of law school. Applicants must demonstrate unmet financial need to be eligible for consideration.

Additional Information: Provided annully through the VCCF, this scholarship is awarded in memory of Roy A. Gustafson. Scholarships will be provided to California state law students who have completed at least one year of study and plan to continue in their current school. To be considered for this award, students must demonstrate unmet financial need and satisfactory academic standing in an accredited California law school.

Award Amount: $10,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $10,000.

Applications for and information about the Roy A. Gustafson Memorial Scholarship Fund are available online at the Ventura County Community Foundation (VCCF) website. To apply for an award, students must complete all sections of the online application form. Applicants must also submit an original essay in response to the award's topic, as well as two letters of recommendation. At least one letter of recommendation must be submitted by a current faculty member at the school the student is attending. All applications and supporting documents must be received by the deadline date.
