Number of Awards & Eligibility: Four awards offered annually, two awards will be awarded to students applying to the graphic design degree program and two students applying to the web design degree program.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must plan to attend Session College for Professional Design in Arizona.
  2. This award is for U.S. and international students.
  3. Must be a first-generation college student, in that neither of the student's parents have previously attended college.
  4. Must major in graphic design or web design.

Description: This award is for international and U.S. students applying to Sessions college planning to major in graphic or web design. Applicants must be in the first generation of their family to attend college.

Application requirements for the Sessions College First-Generation Student Scholarship are:

  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
  • Recommendation letter
  • Essay
  • Test Scores (ACT/SAT/TOEFL/IELTS)
Additional Information: Sessions College degree programs foster creativity and professional experience in a flexible but rigorous environment. Scholarship recipients will be notified upon acceptance into the degree program. Scholarship decisions are independent of program acceptance decisions; applicants can be accepted to the program even if a scholarship cannot be awarded.

Award Amount: $3,000 offered annually non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,000.

Information about this award is available online on the Sessions College website. In addition to the application for admission, students interested in this scholarship must submit an essay of no more than 500 words entitled "First in My Family." The essay should describe the difference a degree in design will make to the applicant and his or her family. Students can apply for admissions online. In addition to a completed admissions application, the student must submit the following: a cumulative high school transcript; official ACT and/or SAT score reports; international students whose native language is not English should submit TOEFL or IELTS scores instead; a letter of recommendation; and a portfolio with 5-10 sample pieces or alternate project. In addition to the essay needed along with the admissions applicants students applying for this award must write a description of the process of creating his/her best portfolio sample. Provide details on the goals of the project, the steps taken to create it, and the reasons he/she feels it is his/her best art or design piece to date.
