In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be completing sophomore credit hours and entering the junior classification year at the time of application.
  2. Must be attending a university with an active SHPE student chapter in the United States or Puerto Rico.
  3. Must be enrolled full-time (12 hrs undergraduate) during the academic year.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 3.3 or higher.
  5. Must major in civil engineering, computer engineering or computer science.
  6. This award is for U.S. students.
  7. Must be of Hispanic descent.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is for African American, American Indian and Latino students enrolled in an undergraduate engineering program. Preference is given to students with a grade point average of 3.3 or higher.

Additional Information: The SHPE Foundation provides Scholarship Programs designed to enhance and achieve the potential of Latino students pursuing degrees in engineering, math, and science. Merit-based and need-based scholarships are awarded to undergraduate students who demonstrate both significant motivation and aptitude for a career in civil engineering, computer engineering, and computer science. Scholarship recipients will be notified by October 1st.

Award Amount: Up to $5,000 annually. Students may re-apply each year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

Applications are available online at the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) Foundation website. As part of the application package, students must include: a personal Statement: official transcript(s); a recommendation letter; a resume; and the Scholarship Certification Form. The application and required materials must be submitted online no later than the deadline date.
