The purpose of this program is to provide financial assistance to students with financial need who are enrolled in graduate programs in public affairs, public service or public administration. The recipient is selected by a committee at the coordinating board. The committee will rank applicants and select the recipients of awards for the following academic year. In determining student eligibility the committee shall consider at a minimum the following factors relating to each applicant: academic ability and promise; career plans; and individual qualifications, with emphasis on leadership and communication skills. Students must demonstrate financial need and register for the selective Service or be exempt from this requirement. Students must also intend to work in Texas after completing a graduate program.
