Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually. Last year, four awards were given to master's candidates, and two awards were given to Ph.D. candidates.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a graduate student at time of application.
  3. Must be pursuing a field of study related to geospatial intelligence.

Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. and international graduate students who are pursuing a field of study related to geospatial intelligence.

Application requirements for the USGIF Scholarship Program for Graduate Students are:

Additional Information: In evaluating scholarship applications, USGIF will first look at the nominee's overall qualifications as demonstrated through academic course work and extracurricular activities. USGIF evaluates nominations on a peer-to-peer basis so that master's degree students will only be judged relative to other master's degree students, and doctoral students will only be judged relative to other doctoral students.

Award Amount: $5,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

The application deadline date has not yet been finalized for this year, but is expected to remain the same as last year. The deadline date shown here is tentative based on last year's date. Please check back in October for a refreshed application deadline date. Applications are available online on the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) website. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following: an essay of three to five double-spaced pages addressing the topics listed on the application; undergraduate (if a master's student) and graduate transcripts (unofficial accepted); and two letters of recommendation, at least one of which should be from an appropriate university professor or dean. All application materials must be submitted online no later than the deadline date.
