Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually. Last year, three scholarships were given.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be an undergraduate student at time of application.
  3. Must be pursuing a field of study related to geospatial intelligence.

Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. and international undergraduate students who are pursuing a field of study related to geospatial intelligence.

Application requirements for the USGIF Scholarship Program for Undergraduate Students are:

  • Application form
  • Essay
  • Recommendation letters (2)
  • Transcript
Additional Information: In evaluating scholarship applications, USGIF will first look at the nominee's overall qualifications as demonstrated through academic course work and extracurricular activities. USGIF evaluates nominations on a peer-to-peer basis so that undergraduate students will only be judged relative to other undergraduate students.

Award Amount: $5,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

Applications are available online on the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) website. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following: an essay of three to five double-spaced pages addressing the topics listed on the application; a copy of his/her undergraduate academic transcripts (unofficial accepted); and two letters of recommendation, at least one of which should be from an appropriate college/university professor or dean. All application materials must be submitted online no later than the deadline date.
