Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a member of Women in Aviation, International (WAI) by Nov. 1, and that membership must remain current through March. Please note: Both men and women are eligible to join WAI.
  3. Must be a woman.
  4. Must have already flown solo.
  5. Must be working on her recreational, sport pilot, private pilot, or commercial certificate; instrument or multiengine rating; or CFI.

Description: This scholarship is open to U.S. and international women of all ages who have already soloed and are working on their recreational, sport pilot, private pilot, or commercial certificate; instrument or multiengine rating; or CFI. Preference will be given to Wisconsin residents.

Application requirements for the WAI-Oshkosh Chapter Spirit of Flight Scholarship are:

  • Application form
  • Recommendation letters (2)
  • Essay
  • Resume
  • Aviation documents
Additional Information: All scholarships, unless otherwise noted, will be awarded at the 30th Annual International Women in Aviation Conference at the Long Beach Convention Center March 14-16, 2019 in Long Beach, California. Attendance at the conference is not required to receive a scholarship, but it is encouraged. Please note: Students may only receive one scholarship per year.

Award Amount: $250 annually, non-renewable. Funds will be paid to the flight school of the recipient's choice.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $250.
