In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a licensed radio amateur with a general class license or higher.
  2. Must major in engineering, sciences, or similar fields.
  3. Must have a home residence within 70 miles of Schenectady, New York.
  4. Must be pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher at an accredited four-year college or university.
  5. This award is for international and U.S. students.

Applications are available on the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) Foundation website. Applications must be completed online. Students need only submit one application for all scholarships for which they are eligible. The student must provide contact information for one educational reference, one character reference, and one social reference on the online application. The student must also submit a copy of his/her academic transcript from his/her most recently completed school year to the email address provided. The transcript must be scanned and submitted as a PDF.
