Number of Awards & Eligibility: 26 awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a resident of one of the following Leeward O'ahu zip code areas: 96701, 96706, 96707, 96782, 96792, 96797.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  4. Must plan to enroll or be enrolled full time (12 credit hours or more) at an accredited two- or four-year college or university.
  5. Must demonstrate academic achievement by having a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
  6. Must be a high school senior or older to apply for this undergraduate award.
  7. Must plan to major in a health related field.

Description: This scholarship is available for undergraduate students who are residents of one of the following Leeward O'ahu zip code areas: 96701, 96706, 96707, 96782, 96792, 96797. Students must major in a health-related profession and demonstrate academic achievement with a GPA of 2.5.

Additional Information: Aiea General Hospital closed its doors in 1983. With the hospital's remaining assets, its Board of Directors established a trust in 1985 as an expression of gratitude to area residents for their many years of support. All applicants for this award must demonstrate financial need and good moral character. Recipients will be notified after the scholarship selection committees meet, which could be any time between May and August. Preferences: Former recipients Majors in which there are current shortages Students likely to return to work in Hawai'i Students with a GPA between 2.5 & 3.75

Award Amount: Approximately $1,000 annually, non-renewable. Students must reapply each year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Online application forms are now available on the Hawai'i Community Foundation website. The student should visit the Hawai'i Community Foundation's website for detailed instructions on how to complete the online application. In addition to the online application form, the student must submit the following supporting materials: the printed confirmation page that is generated after applying online; a typed, double-spaced personal statement of two to three pages answering the questions listed on the website; two letters of recommendation; an official copy of his/her most recent transcript; and a copy of his/her SAR (Student Aid Report). The SAR is obtained by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. Each application must be submitted by 4 p.m. HST on the deadline date.
