Health Professions Education Foundation
Up to $8,000 annually, non-renewable. Funding is intended to pay tuition, required fees, books, supplies, and educational equipment costs related to the student's registered nurse or pre-nursing education.
The number of awards offered varies annually and is dependent on funding.
Recipient must plan to graduate after June of the current academic year. Selection will be based on the following criteria: cultural and linguistic competence, financial need, work experience, career goals, community service, background, and fluency. Recipients agree to a two-year service obligation practicing direct patient care at a qualified facility in California. Qualified facilities include those designated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources Administration (HRSA) as a medically underserved area (MUA), health professional shortage area (HPSA), county, state or veterans facility.
