Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must pursue an associate's degree in nursing at a state-approved program.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  5. Must be currently enrolled in or will enter his/her second year of an associate's degree in nursing (ADN) program in the fall semester following application.

Description: This award is available for U.S. college sophomores who are pursuing an associate's degree in nursing. Students must be a member of a local, state, or national student nurse association and actively participate in the association, and have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

Additional Information: Naomi Brack, a leader in associate's degree nursing education, was a co-founder of the National Organization for Associate Degree Nursing. This scholarship award was established in her honor. Applicants must be members of a local, state, or national student nurse association, and actively participate in the association. The scholarship will be presented at the annual convention.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available on the National Organization for Associate Degree Nursing Foundation (N-OADN) website in the 'OADN Foundation' section. In addition to a completed application, the student must submit the following: a separate sheet of paper that lists all scholastic honors that he/she has received, nursing organizations to which he/she belongs, all nursing- and non-nursing-related extracurricular activities in which he/she participates; two letters of reference from nursing instructors addressing his/her commitment to nursing, involvement, and leadership qualities; a typed, double-spaced statement (of approximately 500 words) addressing the topic listed on the application; and a grade transcript. The student must also submit a letter from his/her dean or director confirming that he/she: is currently enrolled in a state-approved associate's degree nursing program; is currently enrolled in or will enter his/her second year of the associate's degree nursing program in the fall; is a member of a local, state, or national student nurse association; and has earned a grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. All applications must be sent to the address provided and be postmarked by the deadline date.
