Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a high school senior at the time of application.
  2. Must attend John Jay High School or Roy C. Ketcham High School in Hopewell Junction or Wappingers Falls, NY.
  3. Must plan to major in nursing.
  4. This award is for U.S. students.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.

Description: This award is available to seniors graduating from Roy C. Ketcham High School in Wappingers Falls, New York. Applicants must plan to major in, and pursue a career in nursing.

Additional Information: Established by the family and friends of Nora Strudwick and the Wappingers Registered Professional Nurses Association to honor her memory, this scholarship is available each year to a senior graduating from one of the Wappingers Central School District high schools who plans to pursue a career in nursing. The recipient must demonstrate the potential for the compassionate nursing practice which best symbolized Mrs. Strudwick's career.

Award Amount: $500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $500.

Applications are available online from the Community Foundation of Hudson Valley website at the address provided. In addition to the completed application, each applicant must submit two letters of recommendation (one academic and one personal); a copy of his/her most recent transcript; a copy of the student's Student Aid Report (SAR) and Expected Family Contribution (EFC) information; and an essay of approximately 500 words responding to the prompt listed on the application. The Student Aid Report (SAR) is obtained by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. Applications must be completed online by the deadline date.
