Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually. If there is sufficient funding, the GFWC of MA may offer more than one award.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a resident of Massachusetts.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  4. Must major in voice.
  5. Must be currently enrolled in an eligible undergraduate program at a four-year accredited college, university, or school of music.

Description: This scholarship is available for Massachusetts undergraduates who are majoring in voice. Applicants must be willing to perform at a personal audition.

Additional Information: The award winner must notify the GFWC of MA treasurer by mail of the college he/she will attend, college identification number, and address of the office handling student accounts. Each award winner must matriculate at the college of his/her choice no later than Feb. 1 of the year following application. The scholarship winner and one guest will be invited to attend a scholarship luncheon at the GFWC of MA State Convention in May. Further details will be sent to the scholarship recipient upon notification of the award.

Award Amount: $500 annually, non-renewable. The award is for tuition only and will be sent to the recipient's college.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $500.

Applications are available on the General Federation of Women's Clubs of Massachusetts (GFWC of MA) website. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following: a personal statement of no more than 500 words addressing professional goals, experience/repertoire, and financial need; a letter of recommendation from the college department head, a professor from his/her major, or a voice instructor (must be original on school letterhead); and an official transcript of college grades. All required materials must be sent together (in one package) to the music chairman at the address provided, and must be postmarked by the deadline date. All students must also perform at a personal audition. Students will be notified of the time for the personal audition, which will be held in April at the First Baptist Church, 493 Main St., Corner of Main and Salem Streets in Malden, MA.
