This scholarship was created in memory of Dr. Laura Jean Armstrong, a nurse extraordinaire. Beginning her professional career as a registered nurse in private practice, Dr. Armstrong joined the Hawai'i State Department of Health in 1968. As a public servant, she passionately worked to improve the health and welfare of the underserved until her untimely death. All applicants must demonstrate financial need and good moral character. Recipients will be notified after the scholarship selection committees meet, which could be any time between May and August.
