Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually, but is approximately 50.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must plan to pursue a health- or medical-related profession currently practiced at MGMC. *Note: Pre-medicine is not a qualifying discipline.
  3. Must reside in the Kennebec Valley area serviced by MaineGeneral Medical Center (MGMC).
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  5. Must be a high school senior or older to apply for this undergraduate and graduate award.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: Students who are majoring in a healthcare field and live within the service area of MaineGeneral Medical Center may apply for this scholarship.

  • Official Transcript
  • Recommendation letters (2)
  • FAFSA (if applicable)
Additional Information: Scholarships are awarded on the basis of scholastic achievement, financial need, civic contributions, acceptance at an accredited school, and residence within the MaineGeneral Health service area. Decisions on scholarship winners are made in early May.

Award Amount: The award amount ranges from $250 to $2,500. The awards are non-renewable, but students may reapply each year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,275.

Applications are available at high school guidance offices, college financial aid offices, or by contacting MaineGeneral Medical Center (MGMC) at [email protected] using the contact information provided.In addition to the completed application, the student must submit a transcript of his/her most recent grades and two letters of recommendation from people who know him/her well but are not family members. The student is strongly encouraged to submit these letters with his/her application, as the application will not be considered complete until the letters are received. If the student has applied for a federal loan, he/she should also include a copy of his/her FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or SAR (Student Aid Report). The SAR is generated by filing the FAFSA. The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices.The application and all supporting materials must be sent to the address provided by the deadline date.
