Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards varies.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be enrolled as a full or part-time student in a regionally, fully accredited post-professional doctoral program whose content has a demonstrated relationship to physical therapy.
  2. Must demonstrate commitment to further the physical therapy profession through research and teaching in the United States and its territories.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  4. Must possess a license to practice physical therapy or have met all the requirements for physical therapy licensure in the U.S.or in a U.S. jurisdiction.

Description: The PODS I & II Scholarships is available for post-professional doctoral students, who, having completed one full year of coursework, wish to continue their studies or have entered the dissertation phase of their post-professional doctoral program. Additional Information: The Foundation for Physical Therapy Research funds PT research grants, scholarships, and fellowships. PODS I & II Scholarships are part of the Foundation’s Doctoral Opportunities for Clinicians and Scholars (DOCS) Program. The Foundation encourages applicants from general and specialty areas to apply for funding. Scholarship categories within the PODS program have been established for the two distinct phases of education and training:

Award Amount: The winner of the PODS I & II Scholarships will receive up to $7,500 or up to $15,000. Scholarship is renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $22,500.

To apply for the PODS I & II Scholarships, candidates fill out and submit their application on the provider website after creating a user account. The PODS Application, in the submission system, consists of five (5) sections: Title, Questions, People (personnel), Attachments, and Supporting Material. Each section needs to be completed before your application is considered finished and then submitted for consideration.
