Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must have an interest in writing poetry.
  3. Must be a high school senior or older to apply for this undergraduate and graduate award.

Description: This award is for students who have an interest in writing poetry. The applicant may be a high school senior, undergraduate or graduate student.

Application requirements for the Slipstream Poetry Contest are:

  • Up to 40 pages of poetry
  • $20 reading fee
Additional Information: The winner of the contest is announced in late spring or early summer. The winner is featured prominently on the Slipstream website for one year, as well as in all Slipstream catalogs, press releases, and promotional materials.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable. The winner will also receive 50 professionally-printed copies of his/her book. All applicants receive a copy of the winning chapbook plus one issue of Slipstream magazine.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.
