Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be an undergraduate student at the time of application.
  2. Must have completed a minimum of 6 credit hours of astronomy at the 300 level or higher.
  3. This award is for U.S. students.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  5. Must be enrolled at the Department of Physics at University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Description: The Astronomical Society of Kansas City Astronomy Scholarship Fund is available for undergaduate students at the Department of Physics at the University of Missouri, Kansas City who have taken at least 6 credit hours of 300 or 400 level astronomy courses.

Additional Information: The Astronomical Society of Kansas City Astronomy Scholarship Fund is provided annually to a student at the Department of Physics at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. Students are not required to have junior standing, but they must have begun significant study of astronomy and must have completed a minimum of 6 semester hours of 300 and/or 400 level courses. The administration and management of this scholarship is provided through the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation. Originally founded in 1978, the GKCCF was designed to provide a single point of support and professional charity organization for various charitable organizations throughout the local area. Over the years, the scope of this mission has expanded to include grants, scholarships, and other philanthropic initiatives within Kansas City, throughout the Midwest, and even nation-wide. Award Amount: $500 or more provided annually, non-renewable. Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the university to be applied to tuition, fees, or other academic expenses.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

Application instructions and additional information about the Astronomical Society of Kansas City Astronomy Scholarship Fund are available online at the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation (GKCCF) website. Applications has two deadlines: December 1 and June 1. Completed applications with all supporting documents must be received no later than the deadline date. Late and incomplete submissions will not be considered.
