Description: International Centre for Diffraction Data (ICDD) is a global member organization devoted to a scientific mission. To encourage promising graduate students to pursue crystallographically oriented research, the the ICDD set up a Ludo Frevel Crystallography Scholarship Fund. Named in honor of the renowned scientist, the Ludo Frevel Crystallography supports the education and research program of promising graduate students in crystallography-related fields. The term of the scholarship is one year. The recipient may make application for one renewal at the end of the first year.

Application requirements for the Ludo Frevel Crystallography Scholarship are:

  • Essay
Additional Information: The applicant should be a graduate student enrolled in a graduate degree program during the 2021 calendar year, with major interest in the following: • crystallography e.g. crystal structure analysis • crystal morphology • modulated structures • correlation of atomic structure with physical properties • systematic classification of crystal structures • phase identification • materials characterization

Award Amount: The 2020 Scholarship Awards were in the amount of $2,500 each. Applications for the next round open on October 3, so amounts may vary.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.
