Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must pursue a program of study that supports the scrap processing and recycling industry as a whole. Eligible programs are listed on the application, but other programs may be eligible if the student explains why his/her program should be considered.
  4. Must be admitted to or enrolled in a graduate degree program.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: U.S. students seeking a graduate degree in a program that supports the scrap processing and recycling industry as a whole are eligible to apply for this award.

Additional Information: The Recycling Research Foundation (RFF) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization closely associated with the ISRI. The foundation's mission is to "promote the art and science of scrap processing and recycling through research, sponsorships, technical assistance, and educational programs for the purpose of advancing the industry". Board members and their dependents of the RRF, as well as employees and their dependents of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, Inc. are not eligible to receive a scholarship. If the applicant's field of study is not listed and he/she feels it should be included, an application may still be submitted, provided it includes an essay answering how the field of study is applicable to the industry as a whole.

Award Amount: $5,000 annually, non-renewable. Once approved, the scholarship award will be sent to the respective school based on the information provided in the applications. Checks will be made payable to schools, not students, and will be mailed in early August. Requests for alternative arrangements must be submitted in writing to the RRF Liaison before Aug. 1.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

Applications are available online from the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, Inc. (ISRI) by clicking "About" from the top navigation bar, and then clicking the 'Recycling Research Foundation' link on the lefthand side of the page. Applications may also be requested from the foundation using the contact information provided above. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit responses to the three questions listed on the application (no length requirement), a copy of his/her college transcripts, up to three letters of recommendation (one or more), and an essay about why his/her field should be considered or added to the eligibility requirements if it is not currently listed. The application and supporting materials must be submitted via fax or mail to the RRF Liaison by the deadline date for maximum consideration.
