Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a high school senior who is graduating from an accredited high school in the United States with a diploma and will be attending an accredited two- or four-year college or university in the United States or Puerto Rico.
  3. Must be an SHPE Junior member in good standing at time of application and must join SHPE as a student member upon graduation from high school.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 2.75 or higher.
  5. Must be enrolled full time (12 hours) throughout the academic year.
  6. Must major in a science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) degree program.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is for high school seniors who will be enrolled full time in a degree program in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) field. Students must be junior members of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and have a grade point average of 2.75 or higher. Students of Hispanic descent will be given priority.

Application requirements for the SHPE Graduating High School Senior Scholarship are:

  • Resume
Additional Information: Applicants are not required to be of Hispanic descent, but those who are will be given priority. The scholarship will be awarded upon the basis of academic standing and financial need.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available online at the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) website. February 1: ScholarSHPE Applications for ’23-’24 Academic Year Open May 1: ScholarSHPE Applications Due June 1-June 30: ScholarSHPE Application Review Period July 7: ScholarSHPE Awards Announced The application must be completed via the SHPE STARS online application system. Students must create a login and password before using the system. Each student will be required to upload the following documents to the online application: a personal statement; a resume that is no longer than two pages and includes information about education, work, and volunteer background and experience; his/her most recent transcript; and at least one letter of recommendation. The student is encouraged to provide a letter from a teacher or professor who can speak to his/her academic performance and interest in STEM. Applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. EST on the deadline date.
