Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards varies.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be current Arkansas residents or currently employed by a school district or educational cooperative in Arkansas.
  2. Must have a family member who is a current AASEA member.

Description: Scholarships are awarded for undergraduate Junior, Senior, or graduate study in fields related to the delivery of services to children with special needs and/or to those who have a disability for which he or she has received services. Consideration is given to anyone employed by school districts or educational cooperatives in Arkansas.

Application requirements for the AASEA Legacy Scholarships are:

  • Interview
  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Personal statement
  • Official Transcript.
Additional Information: Arkansas Association of Special Educational Administrators (AASEA) is a voice for special education administrators. Each year they offer a few scholarships. AASEA Legacy Scholarships are awarded for undergraduate Junior, Senior, or graduate study in fields related to the delivery of services to children with special needs and/or to those who have a disability for which he or she has received services. Consideration will be given for the areas of K-12 Special Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Special Education Supervision and Administration or other related fields at the AASEA Scholarship committee’s discretion. Consideration will be given to persons employed or planning to be employed by school districts or educational cooperatives in Arkansas.

Award Amount: The winner of the AASEA Legacy Scholarships will receive $2,000.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

Applicants must download and print the application form from the provider website. A complete application package includes biographical data, official transcripts and two letters of recommendation. You also need a photograph that can appear in a newspaper.
