Although many famous actors and actresses have lucrative careers — making millions of dollars per movie — not everyone who pursues a career in acting or theatre has such monumental success. In fact, many graduates with a BFA in theatre have to continue to work hard to develop their skills, land a job, and continue a career in a very competitive market. That same determination is true for those looking to study theatre in school. While a theatre career can be very rewarding, it can also be extremely expensive! Future actors, playwrights, and directors pursuing a degree may find theatre scholarships from various organizations and colleges.

This scholarship is available for LGBT students and straight allies who are studying art or humanities at an accredited college or university in the U.S. Preference is given to students residing in Kitsap County or Bainbridge Island in Washington State.
This scholarship is available to current and upcoming college students with a grade point average of 2.0 or higher who are pursuing a degree in the fine or commercial arts, design or architecture. Basic scholarships are awarded in the amounts of $2,000–$3,000. An amount up to $5,000 may be given at the jury’s discretion.
This award is available to Washington undergraduate and graduate students who are currently attending or planning to attend a postsecondary institution in Washington. The student must have close cultural and social ties to an American Indian community in Washington.
Undergraduate and graduate students may enter this video contest. The student must make a short video of five minutes or less interpreting the theme “One Person Can Make a Difference”.
This award is available for U.S. and international undergraduate and graduate students who are majoring in culinary arts, dance, music, fashion design, theater, or writing. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
This award is available to high school seniors who reside in Rutland County, Vermont, or attend a Rutland County high school. Students must be seeking a degree in the arts, including (but not limited to) music, visual arts, dance, or theater; students must demonstrate academic achievement and financial need.
This award is available to U.S. undergraduate students who are attending Cottey College in Missouri. Students must demonstrate a strong academic proficiency in art, dance, music, or theatre/speech.
This award is available for permanent residents of Maryland with an interest in a teaching career. Candidates must have an undergraduate degree in the liberal arts, sciences or mathematics and be pursuing a master’s degree in education.
