Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a current college junior to apply for this senior year award.
  4. Must be majoring in and planning to pursue a career in welding engineering.
  5. Must attend Ohio State University. Applicant will be expected to enroll and complete the two-hour credit course in Total Welding Management during his/her senior year.
  6. Must be 18 years of age or older at time of application.
  7. Must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for U.S. college juniors who are 18 years of age or older and are pursuing a career in welding engineering. Students must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher and attend Ohio State University.

Additional Information: Please note: The applicant does not have to be a member of the American Welding Society, but it is preferred. Applicant will be expected to enroll and complete the 2-hour credit course in Total Welding Management at Ohio State University during his/her senior year.

Award Amount: $2,500 annually, non-renewable; however award recipients may reapply and are eligible to receive the award for a maximum of two years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.

Applications are available online on the American Welding Society (AWS) website. In addition to the completed application, the student must also submit the following: two letters of reference with one letter of reference indicating previous hands-on welding experience; a personal statement; original official transcript(s) sent directly from the college or university (if applying for more than one scholarship, only one transcript must be an original official transcript); verification of enrollment; an essay as specified on the application; and a statement of unmet financial need. Students must also file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by the deadline date. The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. The application and all supporting materials must be submitted online by the deadline date.
