Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards varies.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be obtaining training in a construction-related craft or trade.
  2. Must be currently enrolled in a construction-related training program which is approved by the Bureau of Apprenticeship Training, community college, technical school or equivalent.
  3. Must show financial need.

Description: The NAWIC Founders’ Scholarship Foundation (NFSF) was established in 1963 by NAWIC to assist in providing the construction industry with trained employees through higher education.?Each year they award over $25,000 to worthy recipients in construction-related programs. Award amounts range from $500 to $2,500.

Additional Information: The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) began as Women in Construction of Fort Worth, Texas. Founded in 1953, sixteen women working in the construction industry organized NAWIC to create a support network. Women in Construction of Fort Worth was so successful that it gained its national charter in 1955 and became the National Association of Women in Construction. Today, NAWIC provides its members with opportunities for professional development, education, networking, leadership training, public service and more. The NAWIC Founders’ Scholarship Foundation (NFSF) was established in 1963 by NAWIC to assist in providing the construction industry with trained employees through higher education. Each year they award over $25,000 to worthy recipients in construction-related programs. Award amounts range from $500 to $2,500. Scholarships are not automatically renewed. Students will be considered for subsequent awards if they provide evidence of continued need, continued interest in construction, and continued enrollment and good standing in a college program leading to a degree or associate degree in a construction-related field.

Award Amount: The winner of the NAWIC Construction Trades Scholarship will receive award amounts range from $500 to $2,500. .  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.

Application are available from www.ststravel.com. To apply for the NAWIC Construction Trades Scholarship, students must download, complete the online application form at the provider website and send the course description, including cost and location. Student also need to show financial need, extra-curricular activities, employment history and answer essay questions. Some applicants may be subjected to a personal interview with a member of NAWIC. All applications must be submitted electronically by email by the deadline date.
