In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be Catholic.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.2 or higher.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  5. Must enroll full time at an accredited college, university, or junior college.
  6. Must be of Italian descent or have a non-Italian Catholic parent or grandparent who is a member of the Italian Catholic Federation.
  7. Must live within the Catholic Dioceses of California, Nevada, Illinois or Arizona. For a complete list of participating branches, visit www.icf.org/branches.html
  8. Must be a high school senior at time of application.

Description: This award is available for U.S. high school seniors who are Catholic, of Italian descent, or have a non-Italian Catholic parent or grandparent who is a member of the Italian Catholic Federation. Students must have a grade point average of 3.2 or higher and live within the Catholic Dioceses of California, Nevada, Illinois, or Arizona. Application requirements for the First Year Scholarship are:

  • Official Transcript
  • Tax Returns
Additional Information: The federation will award scholarships to high school graduates with financial need payable to them upon proof of enrollment in an accredited university, college or junior college.

Award Amount: $400 annually. Scholarship recipients will automatically become eligible to receive an advanced scholarship application upon completing their first, second, and third years of college consecutively. Recipients are eligible for second, third, and fourth year awards of $500, $600, and $1,000 respectively. This scholarship is renewable for up to three years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $80,000.

Applications are available online on the Italian Catholic Federation (I.C.F.) website.In addition to a completed application, the applicant must include a complete transcript of his/her scholastic record, a letter of recommendation from a school official which must state the applicant's grade point average and class rank, and a personal letter of approximately 150 words addressing Italian origin, (or I.C.F. membership affiliation of their non-Italian Roman Catholic parents, guardians or grandparents), and applicant's plans for the future.The applicant's completed packet should be mailed to the I.C.F. Central Council Office at the address provided, marked to the attention of the scholarship committee, and must be received no later than the deadline.
