Number of Awards & Eligibility: A minimum of one award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a high school senior or current undergraduate college student to apply.
  4. Must be a Connecticut resident.
  5. Must be enrolled or planning to enroll as a full-time student.
  6. Must be planning to pursue or be pursuing a course of study in science or engineering leading to a career in the environmental field, especially air pollution control or waste management.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for Connecticut high school seniors and currently enrolled undergraduate students who are pursuing a course of study in science or engineering leading to a career in the environmental field, especially air pollution control or waste management.

Application requirements for the A&WMA Connecticut Chapter Student Scholarship are:

  • Work/Activities resumes
Additional Information: Awards will be made on the basis of academic record, plan of study, career goals, recommendations, and extracurricular activities without consideration of sex, race, national origin, age, financial need, or physical disability. The scholarship awards committee reviews all applications received and its decisions are final.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable. Smaller scholarships may be awarded to additional highly qualified individuals. Students may reapply each year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available on the Connecticut Chapter Air & Waste Management website. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following: a summary of no more than two pages describing his/her college study plan; original transcripts from high school and college (if applicable); a letter of acceptance or other information documenting full-time acceptance by or attendance at an accredited two- or four-year college or university; a resume of no more than one page about any full- or part-time work experience, including dates of employment, employer, and responsibilities; a resume of no more than one page listing volunteer and extracurricular activities especially as they relate to his/her course of study and career goals; and two letters of recommendation from persons familiar with his/her academic record and plans for college study (recommendation instructions are included with the application). References should be submitted in separate sealed envelopes. Application packages may be stapled or held together with a binder clip. The application and all required materials should be submitted together in one package to the address provided, postmarked by the deadline date. The deadline date is always the first business day following March 31.
