In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a legal resident of Delaware.
  3. Must rank in the upper quarter of his/her high school class.
  4. Must have a combined SAT score of 1290 or higher.
  5. Must enroll as a full-time student in a degree program at a non-profit, regionally accredited institution. Information on regional accrediting agencies is available online at www.chea.org/search/default.asp .
  6. Must be a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen.
  7. Must be a high school senior at time of application.

Description: This award is available for Delaware high school seniors who are planning to enroll full time at a non-profit, regionally accredited institution. Students must rank in the top quarter of their class and have a combined SAT score of 1290 or higher to be eligible.

Additional Information: Award recipients will be notified in April and must accept the award by May.

Award Amount: $1,250 annually, renewable for up to three additional years as long as the recipient maintains a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

The application deadline date has not yet been finalized for this year, but is expected to remain the same as last year. The deadline date shown here is tentative based on last year's date. Please check back in December for a refreshed application deadline date. Applications are available at the Delaware Higher Education Office (DHEO) website. Most DHEO programs will require the student to submit additional documents including an unofficial transcript, SAT scores, and updated college enrollment information by the scholarship deadline. Students should follow the instructions in the Common Merit Application carefully. The Common Merit Application must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. on the deadline date.
