Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must have been a resident of the state of Delaware for three or more consecutive years prior to the date of application.
  3. Must be between the ages of 16 and 24.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  5. Must be the child of one of the following: member of the armed forces whose cause of death was service-related; member of the armed forces who is being held or was held as a prisoner of war; member of the armed forces who is officially declared missing in action; state police officer whose cause of death was service-related; or state employee of the Department of Transportation routinely employed in job-related activities upon the state highway system whose cause of death was job-related. *If the applicant's parent is a member of the armed forces, the parent must have been a resident of Delaware at the time of death or declaration of missing in action or prisoner of war status.
  6. Must be a full- or part-time student.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is for undergraduate students who are residents of Delaware. The student must be between the ages of 16 to 24 and be the child of: a deceased military veteran; a state police officer whose cause of death was service related; a military veteran held prisoner of war or declared missing in action; or a state employee of the Department of Transportation whose cause of death was job-related.

Additional Information: The Educational Benefits for Children of Deceased Veterans and Others Program is a state program, administered through the Delaware Department of Higher Education, established to provide tuition aid to Delaware students who are children of deceased military veterans, children of state police officers whose cause of death was service related, or children of military veterans held prisoner of war or declared missing in action. The priority sequence of awards is as follows: public colleges in Delaware; private colleges in Delaware, if the student's program of study is not offered at a Delaware public college; out-of-state public or private colleges, if there is no institution in Delaware offering the program of study.

Award Amount: The award will cover tuition and fees up to the amount charged by Delaware public institutions. Awards are renewable for up to three additional years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $7,920.
