Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered is based on availability of funds.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a high school senior or older to apply for this undergraduate award.
  3. Must be single.
  4. Must be African American.
  5. Must be male.
  6. Must be between the ages of 17 and 25.
  7. Must have and maintain a grade point average of 2.0 or higher.
  8. Must plan to attend Florida State College at Jacksonville (FL).
  9. Must enroll full time.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: African American men between 17 and 25 years of age and planning to enroll at FSCJ for the first time are eligible for this award. Students must have and maintain a grade point average of 2.0 or higher and plan to attend classes on a full-time basis.

Application requirements for the Byron Craig Sessions Scholarship for African American Males are:

  • Recommendation letters (2)
  • Application form
Additional Information: The applicant must be enrolling for the first time at FSCJ to apply for this scholarship.

Award Amount: $1,500 annually, renewable for up to one additional year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,000.

Additional information regarding this scholarship is available on the FSCJ website. Each student must submit two letters of recommendation (preferably from a high school counselor, an instructor, an employer, or minister of his/her church). Materials can be submitted to any FSCJ financial aid office.
