Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually. The amount of awards offered is based on availability of funds through the private owner.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be an undergraduate student at the time of application.
  3. Must attend Florida State College at Jacksonville.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
  5. Must plan to be a full-time student in a college credit program or a non-credit vocational program with a minimum of 900 clock hours.

Description: This award is available for U.S. students attending Florida State College at Jacksonville who have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher. Applicants must be enrolled full time in a degree program, or a non-credit vocational program with a minimum of 900 clock hours. Preference will be given to blood relatives of Gideon T. Burdett Jr. (written proof required) or employees, or descendants of employees of, the Seaboard Coastline Railroad Company or Atlantic Railroad.

Additional Information: Preference will be given to blood relatives of Gideon T. Burdett Jr. (written proof required) or employees, or descendants of employees of, the Seaboard Coastline Railroad Company or Atlantic Railroad.

Award Amount: $500 each term for tuition, books, and fees. The award is renewable for one year as long as the student maintains eligibility requirements.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $500.
