Number of Awards & Eligibility: Approximately 220 awards disbursed annually (170 to Florida residents and 50 to non-Florida residents).
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be an incoming first-time college freshman.
  3. Must plan to attend New College of Florida.
  4. Must demonstrate academic achievement. Students accepted to NCF typically have a grade point average of 3.7 or higher and an SAT score of 1200 or higher (critical reading and math) or an ACT score of 26 or higher.
  5. Must be a U.S citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  6. Must be a resident of Florida.
  7. Must attend a college in Florida.

Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. and international students who plan to attend New College of Florida. The scholarship is guaranteed if the student applies by Feb. 15, and the amount of the award is based on the student's high school grade point average and SAT/ACT scores.

Application requirements for the New College of Florida Four Winds Award are:

Additional Information: First time college students attending the New College of Florida are automatically considered for this award upon admission. Awards are based on academic achievement. The Four Winds Award is based on the student's Institutional Rating as calculated by NCF. The Institutional Rating is calculated using the student's adjusted high school grade point average and SAT score (or ACT score after conversion to SAT).

Award Amount: The amount of funding varies based on the student's Institutional Rating (IR) as calculated by NCF: Presidential Scholars (IR of 95 or higher) will receive up to $3,500 annually for four years. Gold Scholars (IR of 94 to 92) will receive up to $3,000 annually for four years. Silver Scholars (IR of 91 to 89) will receive up to $2,500 annually for four years. Bronze Scholars (IR of 88 to 85) will receive up to $2,000 annually for four years. Leadership awards (IR of 84 and below) will receive up to $1,000 annually for four years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $18,800.

To apply, students must apply for admission to the New College of Florida (NFC). No separate scholarship application is required. Interested students must contact New College of Florida admissions by phone, e-mail, mail, or website to request an application packet, or apply online from the college website. In addition, students must also submit the following materials: an application essay; an official transcript from each secondary and postsecondary school attended (GED recipients must submit a copy of their GED scores and official high school transcripts); standardized test results (SAT or ACT); and a letter of recommendation from a guidance counselor, college adviser, principal, dean, or teacher who has taught him/her in an academic subject within the past two years. Recommenders must use the NCF recommendation form or the form included with the Common Application, and must submit the recommendation directly to NCF. All required materials (including official transcripts, exam scores, and the recommendation) must be on file no later than the listed deadline.
