Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be enrolled in a program within the College of Education and Human Services. Information on available programs is listed online at www.unf.edu/coehs/academics/.
  3. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  4. Must be accepted to the University of North Florida.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  6. Must be enrolled as an undergraduate senior in the term the scholarship is awarded with at least 15 semester hours completed at UNF. Please note: For teaching majors, the student must be eligible for a student internship the term the scholarship is awarded; for non-teaching majors, the student must be eligible for graduation the term the scholarship is awarded.

Description: This award is available to U.S. undergraduate seniors who are enrolled in the University of North Florida's College of Education and Human Services. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Application requirements for the UNF College of Education and Human Services Endowed Scholarship are:

Additional Information: Preference will be given to students who are working in their field of study or are active members of a community or COEHS student organization (for example: Big Brothers and Sisters, Student Council for Exceptional Children, etc.). Recipients are chosen by a selection committee. Students will be notified of their selection status in April or May. Recipients will be recognized at an awards reception in the fall. Students must attend the awards reception as a condition of receiving the scholarship or fellowship. Recipients must meet the following responsibilities: maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or higher; consent to release grades to the Division of Institutional Advancement for the purpose of reporting to the donor; comply with all University regulations, rules, and codes of conduct governing students on campus; and remain in good standing as a student.

Award Amount: $1,000 for either fall or spring term, non-renewable. No undergraduate student will be eligible to receive more than one semester of scholarship support  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

The application deadline date has not yet been finalized for this year, but is expected to remain the same as last year. The deadline date shown here is tentative based on last year's date. Please check back in January for a refreshed application deadline date.Applications are available online from the University of North Florida (UNF) College of Education and Human Services (COEHS) website. The student need only submit one application for all UNF COEHS scholarships for which he/she wishes to be considered.In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following: a typed, double-spaced essay of no more than three pages (in 11-point font) describing how he/she will benefit from the scholarship; two professional letters of recommendation that are signed, printed on official letterhead, and dated within 12 months of the application; and a resume or curriculum vitae of four pages or less that includes educational qualifications, work experience, teaching experience, leadership positions held and professional activities.Please note: To be considered for this scholarship/fellowship, the student must include in his/her essay an explanation of how his/her academic achievement at UNF, his/her service to UNF, or his/her service to a community agency has prepared him/her for success in his/her chosen career.The application and all required documentation must be submitted together as attachments in one email. Applications must be submitted by email by 5:00 p.m. ET on the deadline date. Only electronic applications will be considered.
